I love collecting makeup and getting the latest contour palettes but most of the times, I only use two eyeshadows to contour with! Yes, you heard it right ! EYESHADOWS ! I have found two eyeshadows that work so well for contouring. They blend nicely into the skin and they replace all my contour palettes!
MAC Omega Eyeshadow
If you have pale skin, this shade is perfect for you. It is a matte beige taupe that is very light which is perfect to give you a subtle contour without looking that you have put too much. This shade is very similar to the contour shade of the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette in the color Light. I use this color during the day and it does not look heavy on my face at all.
Availability: maccosmetics.com , Nordstrom
MAC Charcoal Brown Eyeshadow
This shade is perfect for light to medium skintones. It is a matte taupe brown that does not have any red or orange undertones in it and it is also buildable if you want a deepest contour for the night time. It blends nicely into the skin and it does not look patchy or muddy at all.
Availability: maccosmetics.com ,Nordstrom
So these were my two favorite eyeshadows to contour. I got them in an individual pan and I put them both in a Z Palette whenever I travel. They work really great and they blend nicely into the skin. You can get the individual pans from any MAC pro Store or you can get the eyeshadow in a single plastic container from the other stores.
The best thing about these two shades too is that they are not powdery and they do have a smooth texture that does not look heavy on the skin. If you are looking for a contour shade and you have a light to medium skintone, I highly recommend checking out these two!

Lovely choices! I ordered MAC Omega once, but they sent me Grain (shimmery beige). It’s labeled Omega but totally looks like Grain. LOL. One day I’ll get Omega…
By the way, I’ve tagged you for One Lovely Blog. No worries if you don’t do tags, just sharing the love! ?

What a great idea! Funny this past weekend I used an eye shadow as a highlighter to strobe.

This is brilliant! Who says you have to get a contouring palette to contour? 😛 I’m currently using a blush from NYX for contouring (it’s a neutral medium brown), but I’ll definitely keep these in mind when my NYX runs out. Thank you for sharing!

That’s such a great idea, I’ve never even thought about that! I bet mixing these two together would be a perfect contour for me 🙂
I do own a variety of contour kits but when it comes down to it and I’m in a rush, I don’t have time so I just grab a shadow and go in with it on the cheeks! So glad I’m not the only one! xx
Lots of love,

Yes !
I’ve been wanting to get MAC Omega! I have Charcoal Brown and I love it for defining my crease. 🙂 For contouring I use the NYX Taupe “blush” (which isn’t a blush really!)
Yes I love NYX taupe too!
Weirdly I also use eyeshadow to contour with, mine is from Essence though. It’s great to find products that work well for many purposes. xx
