Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to switch to a new skincare routine! The hot weather can have so many effects on our skin and today I will be sharing with you 10 essential bath and beauty products that will help you survive the season.
I got all these products from iHerb which is one of my favorite websites when it comes to shopping for skincare and beauty! They carry over 7,000 bath and beauty products and their shipping is super-fast. They also ship to over 160 countries and their customer service team provides support in 10 languages which is awesome!
Let’s start with skincare and the first item is the InstaNatural, Age-Defying & Skin Clearing Facial Toner with Vitamin C & Salicylic Acid.
I’ve been loving this toner because it has a lot of beneficial ingredients including vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, salicylic acid and glycerin. It brightens the skin while leaving it feeling very hydrated. It also helps in preventing blemishes which makes it a good choice for someone with oily or acne prone skin.
A good sunscreen is a must have product for summer and it’s one of the most important steps in a skincare routine. Mineral sunscreens are ideal for sensitive skin and the one that I am loving is the Alba Botanica sport mineral sunscreen spf 45. It doesn’t contain silicones and it’s nano-particle free. A great tip is to start applying it little by little and to start by a small amount. That way it can be easily absorbed by the skin without leaving a white cast.
When it comes to deodorants, I like to use natural ones that are aluminum-free like the Schmidt’s natural deodorant. It has a good lasting power and it keeps me fresh all day. What is great about it too is that it doesn’t stain on clothes. Shmidt’s offers a lot of different scents and I picked up the ‘lavender+sage’ which smells very natural.
Washing your face at the end of the day with an effective cleanser is a crucial step in your skincare routine. A lot of people are lovers of the double cleanse method which consists of using a cleansing oil at first to dissolve all the makeup and then follow with a regular water-based cleanser. The oil-based cleanser that I like to use is the derma-e nourishing rose cleansing oil. It contains argan and jojoba oils and it works great to remove all the makeup and excess sebum. It leaves the skin feeling so clean and nourished.
Another must have product for summer that I always like to keep with me is an aloe vera gel! This gel works very well to reduce skin inflammation and soothe sunburns. The Lily of desert 99% aloe vera gelly is so lightweight and it feels so refreshing on the skin. It’s also extremely affordable and you get 8oz for 5.82CA which is a great deal!
Tip: keep a tube of aloe vera gel in your kitchen! It’s one of the very effective natural home remedies for minor burns. After accidentally touching a very hot pan or the oven rack, apply a generous amount of the aloe vera gel to soothe and reduce the inflammation.
Kiss My Face, Foot Scrub, Peppermint
Having dry and cracked heels can be so embarrassing especially during the summer time. Luckily, this problem can be solved with a simple routine at home that consists of exfoliating and moisturizing the skin properly. If you have slightly dry and cracked heels, a gentle exfoliator that works great is the Kiss my face foot scrub peppermint. It exfoliates and smoothes with Pumice & Walnut Shells. The exfoliating particles are tiny and so gentle on the skin. When used regularly with a foot cream, this scrub will do a great job of removing dead skin.
Humid weather means frizzy hair and using a hydrating mask at least once a week is so important. A silicone free mask that I like is the Alba Botanica, Hawaiian Deep Conditioning, Minute Mask, Gardenia.
It has a mixture of beneficial oils that helps nourishing and smoothing the hair. I also like its buttery texture that hydrates the hair deeply without leaving any greasy residue.
Summer is the best season for embracing a natural no makeup look and applying less makeup is the key to look good in the hot weather. For a minimal everyday makeup look, applying a thin layer of foundation using a sponge like the Real Techniques by Sam and Nic, Miracle Complexion Sponge gives the skin a very natural finish.
To complete the look, I like to wear one or two coats of waterproof mascara, a lip balm with spf and define the eyebrows with a natural looking pencil. The one that I like is the Etude House, Drawing Eye Brow, Dark Brown #01 which has a slanted tip. This pencil has a slightly waxy formula that is very easy to apply especially for makeup beginners. It works great for natural-looking eyebrows and it blends easily into the skin. A great tip to let the product apply more smoothly is to warm it up on the back of your hand before using it on the skin.
Many of us forget to protect our lips from the sun although it’s crucial to apply a lip balm with Spf. My favorite one for the summer is the Palmer’s, Coconut Oil Lip Balm, SPF 15. It smells like coconut and it has a lot of beneficial ingredients including coconut oil, shea butter and sweet almond oil. It’s extremely affordable (2.49$CA) and it has a very lightweight formula that glides on very easily into the lips.
So these were all my must have beauty and bath products for summer! This season is all about glowy skin and these skincare and makeup essentials will help you achieve this look!
